Frutta di Martorana Workshop
Frutta di martorana is the italian / palermitan name for the traditional marzipan sweets, in the form of fruits, vegetables - and recently also small daily life obiects - from the province of Palermo, Sicily. They are also called "Pasta Reale".
Made with almond flour and sugar, realistically coloured with vegetable dyes, they probably were invented by the nuns of the Monastero della Martorana in Palermo. The story says that they decorated empty fruit trees with marzipan fruit to impress an archbishop visiting at Easter. This workshop, held in one of the best "pasticceria" of Palermo, will last approx. 6 hour (3 hour per day) starting at 16. Rates depend on the number of people attending.
