Montalbano sono...

Ragusa

Traveling to the places used in Montalbano is the opportunity to discover the hidden corners of beautiful south-eastern Sicily.

Montalbano, the gruff and charismatic policeman created by the novelist Andrea Camilleri, embodies some of the typical Sicilian characteristics, with his idiosyncratic obsessions and immense generosity.
The Montalbano novels describe an imaginary world made of towns, places and people: Vigata, Marinella, Montelusa, the Mannara ... most of the villages that are used as a stage for the TV series are located in the province of Ragusa. Traveling to the places used in Montalbano is the opportunity to discover the hidden corners of beautiful south-eastern Sicily.
The itinerary obviously starts from Ibla, the old town of Ragusa: the Cathedral Square with the Church of San Georgio was often used to represent the main square of Vigata, Inspector Montalbano's hometown. Also the nearby Giardini Iblei gardens, the old Gentlemen's Club, Palazzo La Rocca and the Church of Santa Maria delle Scale have been used as locations for several episodes. The restaurant "La Rusticana", is the Osteria Don Calogero, a favourite of Salvo Montalbano and Mimì Augello. The beautiful Castle of Donnafugata, residence of mafia boss Balducci Sinagra, is 15 mins away from Ibla.
Just a few minutes away, you can find the gorgeous beach of Punta Secca, the famous Marinella, with the house where the inspector lives and where he enjoys swimming every day.
Last but not least, we will visit Scicli, a baroque masterpiece declared world heritage by Unesco, where you will recognize the police station of Vigata and the one of Montelusa (Palazzo Iacono).
This tour has two options: half-day and full day.
